召回制度是针对已经流入市场的缺陷产品而建立的。所谓缺陷产品，是指因产品设计上的失误或生产线某环节上出现的错误而产生的，大批量危及消费者人身、财产安全或危害环境的产品。
我国建立的产品召回制度，对现代企业质量管理提出了更高的要求，为了使得企业以及消费者的 损失降低到最小程度，就需要企业建立一个基于产品召回的完善健全的质量追溯系统。
针对缺陷产品进行召回管理的迫切性,指出了产品可追溯性研究的必要性,在总结和借鉴已有产品可追溯性研究的基础之上,给出了产品可追溯性的定义。基于以上讨论,提出并深入分析了批次清单的概念,以及通过构建批次清单实现产品可追溯性的方法;给出了基于关系型数据库的单层批次清单的数据库设计方法。
